And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.

I’ve been in ‘out of office’ mode since the beginning of August which has been great for me but not so for this blog. I have so many book chapters ready to go but never quite got around to polishing and uploading them. I will get back to regular posting in the next few days.
It has been a lovely few weeks with the hubby and kids. We had a trip to Paris, some day trips, a birthday and Emma got her Leaving Certificate results.
Paris was wonderful and as the saying goes “it is always a good idea”. My highlights were the Van Gogh paintings, seeing the Louvre pyramid for the first time and my first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower through some buildings.
While we were in Paris Emma got the results of her Leaving Certificate exams and she did wonderfully well. She got her first choice in college and has accepted her offer from UCD where she will begin her studied on 1 September. It’s an exciting time for her – for all of us really. I’m so proud of her achievements. My baby girl is off to college!
Cathal turned 11 on 19 August. We had a party for him and his friends in June so it was a small family party for us with cards and presents on the actual birthday. I also used sugar icing for the first time and created a cake for him. We had a lovely day.
I am starting to feel an autumnal chill to the evenings and I have noticed the dusk drawing in much earlier.
I will miss the lazy haziness of August but in a way I will also welcome the routine of September.
I will be back soon …..
Now where did I leave the school bags and the uniforms?
